Brother iPrint&Scan: how to print and scan from your phone or computer
Brother iPrint&Scan is Brother's free app for printing and scanning from a smartphone, tablet or computer to a Brother printer. Features vary by model, so check the app's list or your manual.
Before you start
- Your Brother printer needs to be switched on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
- If you have not connected it yet, follow the quick setup guide in the box or see our Brother Wi-Fi guide.
- Download Brother iPrint&Scan from the App Store or Google Play.
Choose your printer
- Open the app.
- It should search for printers on your network. Select your printer from the list.
- If it is not listed, check the printer and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network, and try again.
- If asked for permission to access photos or local network devices, allow it, since the app needs these to work.
- Choose Print, then select Photos, Documents or another source.
- Pick what you want to print.
- Check the paper size and number of copies.
- Tap Print.
Scan
- Put the page on the scanner glass or in the automatic feeder, if your model has one.
- Choose Scan in the app.
- Pick a scan type or size and tap Scan.
- Save the file to your phone, send it by email or share it on.
If it does not work
- Restart the printer and your phone.
- Make sure your phone is not on mobile data only or a guest Wi-Fi network.
- Update the app from your app store.
- Check you are using a supported model.
Brother also provides software for Windows and Mac. You can find it on Brother's UK support website by searching your exact model name.
When to get more help
Get help if the printer is never found, if scan buttons do nothing, or if you are not sure which software to download. Do not open the printer casing.
