What is Samsung TV Plus and how do I watch or remove it
Samsung TV Plus is a free streaming service built into many Samsung TVs. It shows live channels and on-demand programmes over the internet, with adverts, and does not need a subscription.
What you get
It offers a range of free channels covering news, films, kids, music and more. The channels available can change, and some are different by country. Samsung TV Plus is not the same as Freeview, which comes through your aerial.
How to find it
Press Home and look for the Samsung TV Plus tile in the Apps or Live TV area. On some recent models it is also in the channel guide. The exact location differs between models and years.
If it does not appear
- Check the TV is connected to the internet.
- Update the TV under Settings > Support > Software Update.
- Samsung TV Plus is not available on every model, particularly older ones.
If channels will not play
- Restart the TV by unplugging for a minute.
- Check your internet using another app.
- Try the app again later, as a channel may be down.
Do I have to pay?
No. It is advertised as free, though you will see adverts. You still need a TV licence to watch live TV in the UK, which includes live channels streamed over the internet.
Hiding or removing it
You may not be able to uninstall it, as it can be part of the TV's built in software. Some models let you hide or remove Samsung TV Plus channels from the guide, or move the tile. Look in Settings > Broadcasting or on the tile's options menu, which varies by model. Check the e-Manual, as we cannot confirm one route for all TVs.
Privacy
Free services often show targeted adverts. See our guide on privacy and ads settings to limit this.
When to get more help
If the app is missing on a recent TV, crashes after updates or will not stream despite good internet, speak to Samsung support. Vision Tech can help you check settings and connections.
