Using the built-in web browser on a Clevertouch screen safely
Many interactive screens include a web browser so you can show a website without a laptop. It is handy, but a shared classroom screen needs a few extra safety habits.
Opening the browser
On many screens the browser is found through the Present menu. On other models or versions it may be on the home screen or in the app list. Look for a globe or browser icon.
Using it
- Tap the address bar and type the website address.
- Use the on-screen keyboard.
- Pinch with two fingers to zoom, if your version supports it.
- Some versions have a crop or capture tool that lets you take part of a web page and send it to the whiteboard. Check the side toolbar.
Keep it safe
- Do not sign in to personal accounts such as email, banking or social media on a shared screen.
- If you must sign in to a work or school system, sign out when you finish and close the browser.
- Check the web address looks right before entering any password.
- Do not save passwords in the browser. If a pop-up offers to, choose no.
- Never click pop-ups saying your screen has a virus.
Pupils in the room
Preview pages before showing them. Adverts and suggested videos can show unsuitable content. Use your school's filtered network and consider turning off sound when not needed. Where possible, open a link you have already checked.
When to get more help
If the browser is missing, will not open, or a site you need is blocked, ask your IT team. They manage filtering and which apps are allowed. If the screen is managed by your school or company, some settings may be locked. Your IT team or the supplier you bought the screen from can help with warranty, firmware and admin-locked settings.
